Originally by: Merin Ryskin In honor of my return to the forums, I provide you with two interesting facts:
1) Afterburners do have a use in PvP.
2) The Arazu does not suck.

With the faction scram, you have a 22km no-MWD sphere (and a nice 3 points of scram, for those pesky WCS cowards), and inside it, you're faster than anything but an ABing frigate. Add a snake set and your advantage grows even more. Meanwhile your damps are enough to bring non-sensor-boosted targets below 22km lock range, while your 18k EHP buffer can handle drone aggro for a while.
Granted, dps is kind of lacking, but it's meant to be used with either friends in recons, or to gank carebears who are trying to tank NPCs (whether ratting or in a mission).
I've noticed that you flat out refuse to armor tank ships, EVER. Even the Pilgrim, Arazu, and Harbinger, which have the ability to mount respectable, if not beastly, armor tanks, you choose to shield tank. Why? The added maneuverability that comes from fitting 3x nano/OD modules isn't all that much. Do you have some sort of weird issue with being able to fit a point, web, AND propulsion mod to your ships as well as ewar?
I run with an Arazu setup similar to yours, except it has 3x damps, an AB, a scram, a disruptor, and in the lows it's got a buffer tank with a 1600 plate, resist mods, and a SAR for repping up in between fights. It had to downgrade to 150mm rails for fitting reasons but that's not a big deal in a gang.
Also, people have been pointing out these same facts as the Arazu since QR changes were first announced, yet you basically called them idiots for it. What's your problem?
Understand one thing: EVE is not reality. It is a gaming world where the laws of physics themselves change every 3-4 months or so, and what you think may be logical may be 2-3 patches behind the rest of the game. Learn to predict how gameplay changes will affect your setups as soon as the patch notes are announced. When they were announced for QR, there were hordes of people talking about how ABs were going to be viable and how Arazus were going to rule because of their ability to shut down MWDs from 20k+ away. It shouldn't have taken you this long to see they were on to something if you want to call yourself a competent player. |
